Amy's Sweet Sixteen

On Sunday evening we celebrated Amy's birthday at a Thai restaurant. Our waitress remarked, "You're sixteen, right?" Amy smiled, but Nathan said, "Wow!" He is impressed by older ages, meaning anyone in double digits, in a good way, and his great excitement for any birthday celebration reminds us how special it always is.
Two of the best people ever! We are very lucky that they are in our lives.
When Aunt Katie opened the cake box, Maya stretched out her arms and waved her hands, pleading, "I want a taste!" Indulgent Aunt Katie picked up Maya to give her a chance to admire the classic birthday cake with white frosting and big, pastel flowers. Baby Tamzin and her mommy, Karen, are also looking forward to "a taste." Amy cut an extra large slice for Peter and Maya to share, but Maya ate most of it.
We had a great time, and if you look closely, you might be able to gauge how much of the tasty cake each of us ate. Maya is nearly glowing from sugar, followed by Peter who agreeably ate the big frosting flowers I gave him.
