Tunnels of All Sorts
Sweet moments. I peeked out of the kitchen to see them reading together quietly after bathtime. (The book was titled Extreme Sports. Hmm....)
On Friday snow day, Nathan announced: "We made Native Americans!" Ah, totem poles with peekaboo tummies to showcase happy children. (Yes, our home is as messy as it looks.)
After work (no snow day for wage earners), Peter and the kids played out in the snow, or rather, Peter shoveled off the driveway and steps while Nathan Maya rolled, tromped, and dug in the fresh snow.
One very happy boy who used his gloves to clear off the railings. Nathan said that he and Maya played "snowplow" by digging trails in about six inches of snow; hence the snow I found in Maya's diaper later. They love playing in the snow!
Spring cleaning so soon? Yes, but unintentionally. It is more like: "wife, lacking common sense, puts plastic tubs filled with flour--because who would eat flour?--in the lower cabinets which face the outer wall." Apparently this shared wall has some miniscule opening perfect for mice which chewed through the plastic tubs to feast on the flour. Lots of washing everything in hot water and bleaching out of the cabinets after sealing the opening. The last time this happened, Nathan was a newborn. The same said wife left plastic baggies of poppyseeds and sesame seeds in the spice drawer, and we soon discovered a cup-sized hole in a lower cabinet, plenty of room even for a rabbit to enter, if it wished. Peter sealed that hole up, admonished his wife to put spices in glass jars, and hoped that would deter any other foragers. He has been very kind about this lack of common sense thing, such a wonderful, great husband! We celebrated our ninth anniversary this week. Happy Anniversary, honey!
