Dr. Nathan is in!
I traced an outline of Nathan and suggested that he color himself. Nathan drew some blue lines, a heart, and another shape. He said, "Those are my insides. I drew my bones." I thought he would simply color his shape or add clothing, but he chose an internal view. I asked him about the two shapes. He answered, "That's my heart, and that's my glum." Glum? "Yes, the glum is next to the heart." And what does the glum do? "It sucks up your blood and then spits it back out." I see. What does the heart do? "The heart just lays there to keep your voice there. The heart usually goes thump-thump, thump-thump, but mine goes boom!" Well, that would explain why he is a very energetic boy. Who taught you about the glum? "Daddy taught me everything that is inside you. Everything." Ah.... Peter later explained that they talked about internal organs on their way to school one morning, you know, the usual car chat. A bemused daddy translated: lungs.
Smiling about a good heart and glum.
