Peter's Birthday in Maine

On Ogunquit's beach during Veterans' Day weekend. This was Peter's birthday present from us. No hoopla and confetti which would have been fitting for a turn-of-the-decade birthday. Instead he opted for sand, waves, and seafood, which made for a fun and relaxing birthday.

Nathan still loved playing on the beach despite the chilly weather. Maya enjoyed running and exploring--but was soon ready to return to the warmth of the indoors.

Cuddled up watching a morning show. Nathan sleeps in his own big bed with rails that we bring along. Our car is full of gear during getaways.

I put the laptop down on the bed for a moment. Uh-oh...did I save my document? Are they reading my draft? I think their expressions resemble those of my dissertation committee.

Ah, the peaceful drive home. This was Maya's first weekend in a front-facing, big-kid seat, and she was so pleased with the new views--and to be able to grab Nathan's arm.
