Red, White, and Blueberries

Maya in the baby backpack carried by Peter. Our July 4th began with picking blueberries in what turned out to be hot, steamy weather.

On the truck bed on our way out to the blueberry fields. We skipped the other berries; it was too hot, and early blueberries are easy to pick. Many other families were picking too.

Nathan had his own little bucket. He was a great picker this year. (Last year he picked mostly green berries because green was his favorite color.) He was very cute about diligently picking berries one at a time.

Under the tent waiting for the truck to return. We stayed only briefly and still harvested a few pounds. Nathan and Maya loved the blueberries and were delighted with the sweet rewards of field work.
