Two Peas in a Pod

They race to see who runs down the hallway faster; they absolutely must play with the toy the other person has; and they jostle for prime seating--in front of the TV, in our laps, on Daddy's back for pony rides, etc. In the midst of all the ruckus, there are also sweet, snuggly moments which make it all worthwhile and keep us sane.

On this mid-December morning, Nathan said, "Maya is so beautiful. There's nothing better than my moy." I said that they are both great children.

Occasionally I ask Nathan if he would have preferred being an only child (like on days when sharing has been challenging). Once, when he was younger and Maya was new, he was puzzled and asked: "Can we bring the baby back?" Nowadays he seems astonished by the question and says: "I have to have someone to play with!" He has always loved his younger sister which, I think, is why she is so fond of him too.

In the car one evening, Maya patted Nathan's arm and said: "Nay-nay. . .best." Or it could have been "beast" since Nathan has been teaching her this word for some reason. Their mother prefers to think that Maya said "best" since she clearly loves and admires him. See? Whatever Brother is doing, so must she.
