Big Day for Big Kids

Today Nathan and Maya coincidentally wore tops from Aunt Sharon who generously thinks of them during her travels. A very excited Nathan picked out a bear t-shirt from Alaska to wear for his classroom's Father's Day program and lunch today. Rain was pouring when I dropped him off for the hour or else Maya and I would have peeked in to see all of the dads perched on the tiny chairs for their hot dog lunch. Nathan said that his class has been working on songs and cards for this special day.

Maya is wearing one of several beautifully embroidered shirts which Aunt Sharon has brought back from Budapest. Today Nathan remarked twice that "Maya looks like a big girl now." She is speaking in sentences more and has been playing with Nathan for quite a while now (instead of just next him in "parallel play"). Recently we embarked on potty training with great enthusiasm, well, almost all of us, just not the star of the show. After plenty of laundry and disinfecting of the floors, we decided to hold off on it. She will let us know when she is ready, and we are treasuring our baby as she grows so quickly into a big girl.
