Sun, Sand...and Sweatshirts
An overnight in Ogunquit was a great way to welcome spring and cure any leftover winter blues. Ogunquit is fun during the summer, but I prefer the off-season when the village is not yet crowded and hotel rates are affordable. The sunny, mild weather was wonderful for taking walks and playing in the sand.
Nathan and Maya loved the beach. Nathan was most interested in making sand sculptures. (See the sand pyramid in the background? An inspiration.) Maya led us on long walks and shouted, "Come on, water!" to encourage the waves to splash on her feet.
Nathan gleefully exclaimed, "Daddy, you're getting shorter!" as he and Maya piled sandhills higher and higher onto Peter's legs.
Low tide in the morning. We saw many, large, open clamshells, which suggests that clams are in season, at least for the gulls. We reluctantly left the beach when Peter, the driver, pointed out that we still had a long trip home. Nathan still asks: "When are we going back?"
